What is JT Community Giving?

JT Community Giving is a charitable support scheme that aims to give back to our local community, in the way of a financial grant, technology support, volunteers or a subscription donation, for a not-for-profit organisation running a community or environmental project or event.

JT Community Giving aims to aid community projects, initiatives and events that support one of the below:

  1. local charity project support that results in meaningful ‘give-back’ to our community;
  2. digital inclusivity or upskill events that support digital skills progression and opportunities for all – including small businesses, our aging population and school children;
  3. mental and physical health and wellbeing awareness; and
  4. environmental improvement and/or a reduction in carbon emissions.

We want to make a real difference to our local communities, so applications must be based on a real benefit to the local community.

Who can apply for funding?

JT Community Giving is open to all registered charities, schools and registered community groups across the Channel Islands.

This includes not-for-profit organisations, schools, groups, clubs and registered associations.

Both the individual applying for the fund and the recipient group must reside in the Channel Islands.

When can I apply for a donation from the fund?

You can apply for funding/support at any point during the year. However, applications will only be reviewed every 3 months in line with the below dates:

Q1 – Cut off 31st December – applications responded to by 14th January;
Q2 – Cut off 31st March – applications responded to by 14th April;
Q3 – Cut off 30th June – applications responded to by 14th July; and
Q4 – Cut of 30th September – applications responded to by 14th October.

Please note that all applications for event support should be applied for at least 3 months in advance (ideally 6 months +) as we are unable to expedite individual requests outside of the above deadlines.

What can I apply for?

There are a number of things you can apply for throughout the scheme:

  1. Funding/ Cash donation – A request for monetary support to sponsor your charity event or help with the cost of providing a community service/event. Successful applicants will ask for a reasonable request in line with the number of islanders this will benefit. Usual donations are between £50 – £1,000, but other amounts up to £2,000, will be considered on a case by case basis. We also support requests for funding of technology or resources.
  2. Technology Support – requests for temporary Wi-fi, technology support or loan equipment maybe considered if the application will hugely benefit the community and the cost of providing it correlates with the end community benefit.
  3. Volunteers – JT has a team of around 500 fantastic employees, and a volunteer scheme which allows each of them to donate a day of their time to a charity or event. As such we can help pair your requests for volunteers with some of our amazing people.
  4. Raffle/competition donations – we are able to offer a small number of JT One yearly subscriptions and small tech prizes for use in charity raffles and auctions.

We do try and support as many projects as possible, but please provide as much information about your project or event as you can, as this will help us when reviewing your application.

Are there any projects we can't support?

We understand that there are many worthwhile charities and organisations needing our support. However, sadly we cannot support them all.
Below is a list of applications that we wouldn’t support and we ask that you read through them prior to making any application:

  1. applications from outside of the Channel Islands, where the charity, application or event need is off-island;
  2. applications where the funding request cannot be directly attributed to a community give-back i.e., salaries, recruitment costs, marketing/website/campaign costs, non-JT owned software and licenses, travel and transport costs, operational costs and other general running costs.
  3. religious or political associations;
  4. sponsorship of sports teams or kits;
  5. sponsorship of individuals;
  6. headline partnerships where other telecommunications companies are involved;
  7. events that may pose a health, safety or reputation risk; or
  8. events that are being held less than 3 months from the application or ones that don’t meet the criteria for a successful application.

Also please do note that for an application to be successful the information provided must be complete and detailed.

Can I see a copy of the application questions before I start?

Yes, please click here to see a pdf copy of the application. Please note questions are subject to change and this is a guide only.

Can I save and come back later to my application?

Unfortunately, applications are unable to be saved and returned to at a later date. So please do ensure you set aside the time to read and submit all details. If you have the information to hand, then the application should take no longer than 10-15 minutes to complete.

Can I apply more than once?

You can apply as many times as you like; however, each application should be for one specific request. For the best chance of your applications being successful, we recommend looking at how we can help your fundraising efforts over the next calendar year, so you can spread your requests out quarterly. Please be aware that priority will be given to applicants who we haven’t yet supported.

If my application is successful, when can I expect to receive the funds?

Applications are reviewed 4 times a year and we aim to transfer funds within 6 weeks of confirming your application is successful.

Can I apply by post?

Our online form is preferred as it does allow us to better manage the applications and reduce unnecessary paper waste in line with our Sustainability Strategy.

However, if you are unable to apply online you can request a paper copy of the form from jtcommunitygiving@jtglobal.com, message us at JT social on facebook or write to us at:
