Total Wi-Fi Trial – Terms of Reference

JT’s new home Wi-Fi service:
JT Total Wi-Fi - Powered by Plume®

Terms of Reference for trialists of the JT Total Wi-Fi service

  1. JT is making JT Total Wi-Fi (the “Service”) available to you (the “Trialist”) on a limited trial basis free of charge (the “Trial”).

  2. The Trial consists of a starter pack of two (2) Wi-Fi SuperPods free of any monthly charge, to be installed as per the instructions provided.

  3. Only one Trial can be applied per Trialist.

  4. To be eligible for the Trial, the Trialist must receive a JT Broadband service (fibre or ADSL) in Jersey or Guernsey and be invited by JT to participate. The Service is neither available from JT for use outside of the Channel Islands nor for connection to any other broadband service provider.

  5. The Trial will last for a duration of up to twelve (12) months. At or before the end of this period, the Trialist may convert the Service into a regular service (which will be charged at the standard prevailing monthly rate) or else may return the equipment to JT.

  6. The SuperPods remain the property of JT at all times. If the Trialist fails to return the SuperPods when due or if the returned SuperPods are damaged (as defined in paragraph 11 below in the All Users T&Cs), a charge of £60 (plus GST, if applicable) per SuperPod will be raised.

  7. The Service provided as part of this Trial is non-transferable and must remain installed on the Trialist’s broadband service connected to the phone number provided as part of the order process.

  8. No minimum contract period applies to the Service made available as part of this Trial. Any service period used as part of the Trial will contribute to the Minimum Contract Period (as described below) of any paid service which the Trialist takes, provided that the Trialist keeps the same SuperPods.

  9. Personal information supplied in applying for this Trial (including but not limited to a personal address) is collected purely for the purposes of supplying the Trial.

  10. All general Terms of Reference (as described below) apply to the Trial except as outlined above.

Terms of Reference for all users

  1. The following terms of reference are in addition to and must be read in conjunction with the JT Data Service Terms and Conditions, available at www.jtglobal.com.

  2. Unless otherwise specified, terms used in these terms of reference have the same meaning as defined in JT’s Data Service Terms and Conditions.

  3. The Service is based on the functionality offered by the broadband service provided by JT (Jersey) Limited or JT (Guernsey) Limited (as applicable) (“JT”) together with the cloud-based service (the “Plume Cloud Services”) provided by Plume Design Inc. (“Plume”). As a Plume Partner, JT provides you with Plume membership subscription (“Plume Membership”), which is required to use the Plume Cloud Services, subject to these terms of reference. By using the Service, you accept these terms of reference and those relating to Plume Membership which are available through the link on the Plume App or else directly from the Plume website at: https://www.plume.com/homepass/uk/legal?tabId=membershipandcloudservices&countryId=uk.

  4. A monthly fee is payable to cover provision and use of the equipment (the “SuperPods”) and access to the Service (the “Service Charge”). On a promotional basis, this monthly fee may be charged for multiple monthly periods in advance (e.g. one- or two-year periods) in which case these terms apply for that complete period.

  5. The Service is provided only to JT broadband customers in the Channel Islands for a Minimum Contract Period of twenty-four (24) months. If you terminate your subscription to the Service within this twenty-four (24) month Minimum Contract Period (other than within the first three months as described in paragraph 7 below), you will be liable to pay a sum equal to the Service Charge which would have been payable to JT for the balance of the Minimum Contract Period. Following the expiry of the Minimum Contract Period, the Service shall continue until terminated by either party by giving the other notice not less than one (1) calendar month.

  6. The SuperPods remain the property of JT and must be returned to JT on termination of the Service for whatever reason. If the SuperPods are not returned or are found to be damaged when returned, JT will charge you £60 (plus GST if applicable) for each SuperPod concerned.

  7. The Service is designed to improve the coverage of Wi-Fi in your home and give you access to additional security and control features. If, within the first three (3) months of the Minimum Contract Period, you do not experience this improvement or decide not to continue to use the Service for any reason, you can cancel the Service at any time within the first three (3) months provided that you must return the SuperPods to JT in their original packaging before that three (3) month limit expires. JT will refund you any payment made for the Service up to that point. If you do not return the SuperPods in that time, we will assume that you have not cancelled the Service and are therefore committed to the Minimum Contract Period.

  8. The JT Total Wi-Fi Service “Starter Pack” includes two (2) Plume SuperPods, one (1) of which you should plug into your JT (or other) router and the other can be placed anywhere in your home to provide additional coverage.

  9. For most homes, two (2) SuperPods will be more than adequate. Larger homes or those with extensions or conversions may need a third SuperPod (or more), which are available only from JT for an additional monthly fee. Due to variations in construction materials and building layout, JT cannot guarantee Wi-Fi coverage in all situations although most can be resolved with additional SuperPods or by the use of additional internal cabling (which JT can supply at an additional cost).

  10. The Service is not suitable for outside use nor for outbuildings requiring coverage if these are not immediately adjacent to the main home, unless you can connect these back into your home network via a suitable ethernet cable and ensure the SuperPods do not come into contact with damp.

  11. JT will repair or replace a faulty SuperPod free of charge as long as you continue to subscribe to the Service and provided that the faulty SuperPod has not been damaged either physically (such as, but not limited to, obvious damage to the casing) or internally (such as, but not limited to, water ingress). If a replacement is required because of such damage or loss (for whatever reason), JT will apply a £60 (plus GST if applicable) charge for that replacement.

  12. The Service is designed specifically for customers to install themselves, guided though every step by the Plume App with additional documentation provided on acquisition and available online. JT offers a separate “Wi-Fi Healthcheck” service where we can install the Service for you and give you advice in your home about how to get best use of the Service.

  13. Plume AI Security

13.1 Plume AI Security is the security service included with the Service.

13.2. You are responsible for setting parental controls or any other controls available for each option within the Service and keeping them up to date according to the needs of your household. When parental controls are enabled (the default):

    a) we limit access to websites we (or our supplier) believe should be blocked because they may be unsafe or unsuitable to view or access based on the choices you’ve made (with regards to age profiles); and

    b) websites are sorted for blocking by our supplier. We are not responsible for categorising websites or for you always being able to go to websites which are not barred.

13.3. You can black- and white-list any websites yourself from the Plume App to customise your security framework if the default choices provided are not suitable for you.

JT Total Wi-Fi Privacy Policy

  • The Service contains a “Privacy Mode” (available from within the Plume App or by calling us) which allows you to limit the amount of information which will be passed to the Plume servers for evaluation. This also means, however, that you will lose access to most of the Service’s important security features (such as ad blocking and content filtering). If you chose this mode, we would advise you to ensure that your security needs are adequately met through other methods.

  • You have the right to be forgotten. Please email JT (JTTotalWi-Fi@jtglobal.com) to request that we clear your data history related to use of the Service.

  • We can send you all data logs related to the Service. Please email your request to JT Support (JTTotalWi-Fi@jtglobal.com) and we will arrange for them to be supplied to you within thirty (30) working days.

  • Your personal data stays personal. All collection and use of personal data is subject to a Privacy Policy available at https://www.jtglobal.com/global/privacy-policy together with the additional terms in relation to Plume’s processing of personal information set forth below.

  • The Service uses advanced technology to analyse data with the sole purpose of improving your experience and protecting you online.

  • Details of which sites you consult are never recorded by the Service. However, our security features will block potentially malicious sites and the names of these sites, if blocked, will be made visible to you within the Plume App. This information is not available to JT.

  • Access to your data is restricted to Plume and JT employees on a need-to-know basis and subject to strict access controls. Our employees only see your data in order to improve your experience, such as to assist you on a customer support call, and only after asking your permission first.

Processing of Personal Information by Plume

JT (Jersey) Limited and JT (Guernsey) Limited (“JT”) have partnered with Plume Design Inc. (“Plume”) to provide you with a revolutionary Smart Home System and related products and services (“the Services”). This notice explains how your Personal Information is processed by Plume.

  1. Processing of your Personal Information by Plume on behalf of JT
When you purchase a Plume product from JT, Plume will process Personal Information about you (and other users connected to your Wi-Fi network) on behalf of JT, so that JT can provide you with the Services. This means that Plume acts as a “data processor” on behalf of JT, who acts as a “data controller” in the context of the Services. For more information on the processing of your Personal Information by Plume on behalf of JT, please refer to JT’s privacy policy.

  2. Processing of your Personal Information by Plume for Plume’s purposes
Plume may also process some Personal Information about you for Plume’s product development and internal analytics purposes based on its legitimate interests. This includes monitoring the use of the Services to analyse, troubleshoot, protect, improve and further develop the Services, and de-identifying usage information to create statistical analysis and aggregated reports to identify trends. This means that Plume acts as a “data controller” for these specific purposes.

In that context, Plume may process different categories of technical information about your use of the Services collected via automated means, including:

    • Information about connected devices. This information includes the type of device in use, operating system version, along with attributes gleaned from its network metadata including (but not limited to) its dynamic host configuration protocol (“DHCP”) fingerprint, hypertext transfer protocol (“HTTP”) user agent information, UPnP and mDNS discovery information, a sampling of domain name system (“DNS”) requests, device hostname, the nickname given to the device and the unique addresses of the device.

    • Network topology map. This information depicts the connections between client devices in use and the Plume network access points serving Wi-Fi.

    • Network and connectivity status. This information indicates the networking addresses of the devices and system used to communicate with Plume and the Internet along with the operating statistics of the Wi-Fi and Internet connections.

    • Data consumption from devices in use, the Internet and Plume system interfaces. This information includes the current and historical data of transfer speeds and data amount consumed.

    • Plume Services statistics and logs. Plume collects certain information to create statistics and optimize the Services. Such information includes Internet protocol (“IP”) address, JT network speeds and outages, Wi-Fi operating environment, mobility of devices within Plume, and Plume App usage stats (e.g., number of features used or screen views). Plume also collects log information such as messages from the Plume pods regarding Plume connected devices, device inventory data, and software and hardware versions.

    • Safety controls and Internet security features. Safety controls and Internet security features require the monitoring of device network traffic like source and destination traffic headers, IP addresses, ports, size and counts of transferred bytes and packets, applications consumed and DNS requests.

    • Motion at home. Plume collects information regarding disruptions in Wi-Fi waves in the periphery of Plume network access points and devices connected to the Plume network to provide visuals of the live motion and motion history in the user’s home.

    • Digital wellbeing related features. Digital wellbeing requires collection of device network traffic metadata about time spent online using various Internet applications.

    • Crash reports. Plume collects crash reports for both the Plume Software and the Plume App. These reports can include information such as the type of crash, the software version that is running and the operating system version of the device running the Plume App.

In addition, Plume or JT may use your Personal Information to comply with its legal obligations, including, where applicable, to prevent, investigate and/or report security incidents, crime, fraud or misrepresentation, all in accordance with applicable law, as well as to comply with applicable laws and protect its business interests and legal rights in connection with legal claims, compliance, regulatory and investigative purposes.

For more information on how Plume discloses users’ Personal Information or transfers it to another country, your data protection rights and how you can exercise them, or for how long Plume keeps your Personal Information, please see Plume’s privacy policy available at: https://www.plume.com/homepass/legal?tabId=privacy.
