Gearing up for Jersey Live with JT’s Music Moments

The streets of Jersey are being brought to life this August with the sounds of some of the Island’s best young music talent. Thanks to JT’s Music Moments FREE ‘pop-up’ mini-gigs.

Organised by the long-term headline sponsor of Jersey Live, JT, passers-by are being treated to impromptu live performances. This includes some of Jersey’s most talented home-grown local musicians, bands and singers at different spots all around the Island. Because of this success more mini-gigs planned for the pavements of St Helier and St Aubin throughout August.

Three of the recent JT Music Moments performers said:

Kacey Hacquoil (Kacey’s Music Moment)
“I think it’s great that JT are getting out and about and giving the youngsters a chance to play in public. It really helps our confidence as performers and it is good fun.”

David Keenan (David’s Music Moment)
“The JT Summer of Music is a great campaign to showcase a range of local performers to the public. I’m sure a nice touch for passers by to enjoy some home grown talent… Looking forward to Jersey Live now!”

Gavin Tate (The GaaGaas) (Gavin’s Music Moment)
“Thanks for getting me involved with the JT Summer of Music campaign for Jersey Live. It’s always a pleasure to play and support the local scene whenever I’m in town!”

Tamara O’Brien, Head of Marketing at JT explained what it’s all about:

“We’ve been really surprised by just how the public have got behind the JT Music Moments idea.  It started as a way for us to help provide opportunities for some of Jersey’s brilliant local youngsters to perform their music to live audiences in unusual locations. So far, of the 15 pop-up gigs, we’ve seen a staggering 676 likes from the videos and 15,882 views. Therefore, this shows just how popular these young artists are. We’re running the free gigs right up until Jersey Live. Also, we’re pleased to offer opportunities for more younger people to attend Jersey Live with our new ‘kids-go-free’ customer promotions launched today.

“Music Moments is a way to celebrate the high standard and wide variety of music talent that exists in our Island. Our JT Summer of Music programme offers young people the chance to get up on stage in front of audiences to gain exposure and experience. We build up to the ultimate event of our programme of music sponsorship for 2016, Jersey Live in September. We hope the remaining performances inspire others to keep on pursuing their music ambitions. Please join us in celebrating all that Jersey’s music scene has to offer.”

About JT

JT’s Data Centres and Cloud Service reach Information Security Management Standard

JT has announced that its Data Centre facilities and Cloud Service have achieved the internationally recognised Information Security Management certification, ISO/IEC 27001.

To attain this important certification JT was required to demonstrate that its Data Centres and Cloud Service align with best practice. Especially, around an effective Information Security Management System (ISMS). Adhering to the set of controls outlined by ISO/IEC 27001, means JT has examined the risks around information security. And thus, has put in place policies and procedures to manage those risks. This will help protect its information assets and those of its customers.

As the Channel Islands’ leading provider of Data Centre facilities, JT already meets the highest level of recognised industry standards. This includes the certification from Service Organisation Controls (SOC 2 and 3) and achieving the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). In addition, in 2015 JT’s award-winning Cloud Platform became the first of its kind to gain regulatory approval from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. And it was allowed to host global eGaming customers. Even recently it received the Best Go-to-Market Cloud Strategy Awards in the inaugural Telco Cloud Forum Awards.

A Testament to the Hard Work of our Team

Managing Director of JT’s Global Enterprise Division, Paul D Taylor, said: “Achieving another major level of accreditation is a further demonstration of the level of quality of our market-leading Channel Island’s hosting facilities.  ISO/IEC 27001 is a highly regarded and much sought after certification. Adding this to our portfolio of quality endorsements is testament to the hard work of our teams that have played part in ensuring that we adhere to the most stringent controls. I’m very proud of the joint commitment shown by our teams to delivering the very best service levels across the JT Group.

“Achieving ISO/IEC 27001 further underpins our commitment to ensuring our hosting and Cloud service is as broadly accredited and secure as any in the Channel Islands. Hosting is a fiercely competitive sector. Our global customers expect the highest level of commitment to compliance and governance. So, it’s important to differentiate the service we offer by continuing to secure industry standards like this.  Importantly, achieving this certification on top of our existing accreditations bolsters our profile. Especially, amongst a wider global audience and differentiates JT as a secure, trusted partner.”

David Cartwright, JT’s Group Security Officer, said: “The award shows our customers that security is absolutely fundamental. Especially, to the day-to-day operation of the services we offer. We already had huge confidence in the quality of our operations. However,  this certification provides further authoritative independent confirmation and surety to our customers”.

Annual charity day boosts fundraising

At the halfway point of its annual staff charity day, JT has already raised over £10,000 towards their goal of £20,000.  This will then be shared among its chosen charities for 2016.

JT’s annual charity day took place on Friday 17 June with Channel Island staff taking part in a raft of fundraising activities. This included cake sales, quizzes, raffles, a staff BBQ and retail store collections. To date, £5,000 has been raised across the Channel Island offices which has then been matched by JT to boost the annual fundraising target at the mid-point to £10,000.

JT’s Head of Marketing, Tamara O’Brien said: “Our staff always get behind our annual charity day. This year was no exception, it was a fun-filled day reinforcing our charity commitments with some fantastic team-focussed activities across all our offices. It was great to see our staff wholeheartedly get behind this with all sorts of fun and different events. They pitted their wits against each other in a staff quiz and danced in Salsa sessions. The result of their combined efforts is really encouraging and means we are already halfway towards our fundraising target. Even more events and fundraising opportunities are planned between now and the end of the year.”

JT’s chosen charities for 2016 are Friends of SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit) in Jersey . And in Guernsey, The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation.

JT’s industry leading connectivity brings the Bloch Dance World Cup to a global audience

The 2016 Bloch Dance World Cup was broadcasted to a global audience.  Thanks to a partnership between Jersey based digital media company Senergy Digital and JT.

JT provided the infrastructure to support global seamless streaming facilities for the organisers which saw over 3.43 million streaming minutes watched in 107 countries through the course of the 8-day event. Over 347,000 unique views of the live stream were recorded.  51% of viewers watched via a smartphone, with 26% on desktops and 23% on tablet devices.

Over 3,000 competitors from 41 countries performed in Jersey during the eight-day contest that took place at Fort Regent. JT’s superfast fibre-broadband and 4G networks enabled Senergy Digital to provide dance lovers and event supporters from around the world with a free-to-view, first class live online broadcast via Club Wow media services.

Superb Media Services

Dan Williams, Digital Director at Senergy Digital commented: “We are grateful for the support of JT and for access to JT’s fibre and 4G networks. These have allowed us to deliver superb media services from Jersey at speeds we haven’t been able to achieve in any previous host country.”

He added: “To bring every second of the competition to a global audience for free was not just great for the viewer, but a fantastic opportunity for every dancer performing at the competition. It gave them a chance to showcase their ability, dedication and determination to the world. We were privileged to give each dancer the exposure they rightly deserve.”

Digitally-Enabled Event

Tamara O’Brien, Head of Marketing for JT said: “It was a pleasure to support Senergy Digital by providing superfast connectivity. This has also helped to make this the most digitally-enabled event in the Bloch Dance World Cup history. Connectivity is really important when events with a worldwide audience happen in the Channel Islands. So, the organisers can now rely upon our enviable infrastructure to broadcast live coverage. Above all else, it’s events like this which are important in showcasing what Jersey has to offer . As well as the capability we have in terms of technology.”
